I am asking this because im also working with other versions like interlude and h5 that work with java8. Imo it would make everyones life easier and it might even bring more people on board. What are your plans on this?

That could be done.
But first, i'm planning to do a little more of work on the game side and create a Java 7 based branch.
This will be the first branch after years of hard work, and i believe it's going to be promising.
